Calling all Christian Parents:

what do you say we make this summer count for eternity?

the briefing:

Bootcamp is defined as “a short, intensive, and rigorous course of training,” but how my 10-year-old sees it, “That sounds, intense, strict and… not fun.” (He might be right.)

So to our kids, this quest is known by its code words:

the case of the coming king.

But between us, this is some SERIOUS covert ops “training in godliness” (1 Tim. 4:8) as our kids do a deep dive into 40 of the most important Old Testament stories, dust for clues, and ultimately solve the biggest mystery in each story:

Where’s Jesus?

here’s how it works:

Perfect for summer, for 8 weeks (40 days) total, let your kids get their hands on…

  1. A daily podcast episode

(Around 10 minutes) Each animated episode retells an Old Testament story + connects the dots to the corresponding New Testament passages—chock-full of engaging sound effects, games, jokes, and trivia along the way. (Want examples? I get it! Scroll to the bottom.)

  2. A daily coloring page = creating a mini Old Testament booklet

Each page highlights each story’s main verse to, in the end, create their own mini Old Testament. On the flip side (as in when printed back-to-back), each story gives space to write or draw the clues that point to Jesus.

  3. An adventure through the in’s and out’s of the Old Testament.

Let’s raise up theologians who have the eyes and ears to see Jesus in Scripture and their own lives too.

“Repeat [My Word] again and again to your children. Talk about [My commands] when you’re at home and when you’re on the road, when you’re going to bed and when you’re getting up…” Deut. 6:6-7

 FAQs

  • GREAT question. To be honest, I created this as a way to teach my own kids about Jesus this summer and how the Bible points to Him from beginning to end. Their ages are (almost) 11, 9, 6, and 3. Each piece caters to each age on purpose (i.e. The content in the podcast episodes connects with the older kids, while the sound effects, jokes, and games reel in the littles too. And while the coloring keeps little hands busy, the open space to record clues of Jesus will spark the creativity of 8-12 year olds. All in all, it’s your call, but if you have preschoolers or elementary aged kids, I’ll be in your camp and joining your family in solving the Case of the Coming King together.

  • You’ll receive an ebook with the briefing (er, instruction) for both you and your kid. It not only contains the daily coloring pages/New Testament clue page, but it also gives direction on how to access the podcast episodes.

  • There will be 40 episodes total, and whether you listen to 5 per week (weekends off or to catch up) for a total of 8 weeks or spread it out even further, your call! Immediately upon purchase, you will have access to the first 2 weeks (10 episides total), and the rest will be released weekly throughout June.

  • The episodes are housed on a private, password-protected page. You can either pull them up and simply play straight off the website through your phone or any bluetooth speaker OR you can download the MP3’s and put the audio on Yoto or Tonie cards. There are plenty of tutorials on how to make “make your own cards” on YouTube! But ultimately, the episodes are formatted as MP3’s, so sky’s the limit!
